Articles as Marketing

Presenting yourself as an expert in your niche is one great way to gain customer trust and draw the interest of new potential clients. An overwhelming number of online marketers give away a lot of valuable information to clients and potential clients, regarding their product, or service. Writing articles that contain links back to your own work is one way to attract potential clients, in fact, I am doing it right now.

First, you will want to include enough usable information that the article itself is worth reading. If you are not already an expert in your field, then get cracking. You can burn up the keyboard searching out sites that will educate you, or visit your local library for books on the subject, either way, write down, or digitally save what you find, including links to relevant sites, book titles and authors names, etc.

Next write your article. Make it the best you can. Make sure to make use of spell check, and have another person read over your work for errors. One single spelling mistake may cost you a potential customer. Keep it light hearted and write with authority. End the article with an invitation to buy your product, or service, and a link to your website.

Last but not least, publish your article. You can post it on your own blog,- which can be started in minutes with either blogger or wordpress, for free!- Or, you can go to Article Base, Associated Content, Helium.com, or other article posting sites and distribute the piece. Be sure to read the sites FAQs to make sure posting in multiple places is allowed.

Next, promote your article. You can do this on Linked in, by posting it as a status update, with a link, or by using other social networks such as Digg, and Facebook.

By writing articles, not only will you show customers that you know what you are talking about, but you also make use of a great source of free publicity. Try writing and posting at least two articles a week for 6 to 8 weeks before determining how much it has helped.
